A few sweet things about L at 23 months

- She says "uh huh" instead of "yes" in a high pitched, sing songy voice.
- She prefers sleeping on her tummy with her arms curled under her head.
- She really likes making a diamond with her hands when we sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star".  Sometimes she will do the diamond to let me know she wants to sing it.  Super cute.
- She points out and is very concerned if someone has a "boo boo" and will gladly kiss it for you.
- She is starting to string her words together more to form complete thoughts.  The other night, I was holding her and dad went to take her.  She said "no daddy, mommy please". ;-)
- I painted her toe nails for the first time and she absolutely loves her pink toes.
- When her hair is in her face, shes uses the palms of both hands to push it back.  It is really cute for some reason.
- Her "sorry" comes out "saw wee"....really, how could you stay mad?

Some stuff that happened

that I haven't gotten around to posting about...

C was George Washington Carver in the 3rd grade Living History Museum.
Both boys are playing baseball - B, Single A and C, AAA.

C pitching -

B's favorite position is catcher -

Speaking of baseball, dad got hit by one right in the eye (the hazards of coaching!) -
Our sweet dog, Lunden, had surgery (more on that in another post) -

L got some new shades and wears them pretty much non stop -
She is enjoying playing outside with her water table -
And she decided that eating at the island is much more fun than sitting in her booster -

Just a couple more pictures of my beautiful girl for good measure.... ;-)

22 Months!

Okay, so I wrote most of this a couple of weeks ago and never finished it....I'm lame, I know.  Just can't seem to keep up with the blog these days.

**********

Two more months and my baby will be 2!  It is amazing how much she has changed and developed even over just the past month. She is looking more and more like a little girl, and less like a baby ;-( (sniff sniff).  Her personality is blossoming (sometimes a good thing, sometimes not!). Her vocabulary is exploding.  She repeats everything she hears.  Her attachment is growing by leaps and bounds.  She is finally calling me "mama" - actually asking for and calling for me, not just identifying me.  Some things about Miss L at 22 months:

- She loves to sing and dance!  She 'sings' along with the radio and with us when we sing (getting a few of the words correct here and there, if she knows the song).  I catch her singing her ABCs all the time - super cute - getting the first three letters right and then a few more down the line and ending with a loud "ME".  She also has some crazy dance moves and will match her moves to the words of the song (e.g., if the lyrics say "put your hands in the air", she will put her hands up at the right time, or if the lyrics have "up" and "down" in them, she will jump up and crouch down).
- For the first time last night, dad was getting her ready for bed and she pointed to her diaper and said "potty".  He asked if she had to go potty and she said "yes", so he took her to the bathroom and she was frantically trying to get her diaper off as fast as possible.  She peed a tiny bit in the potty and we all (the boys included) made a huge thing of it - jumping up and down and clapping.  She was super proud of herself.  I'm not under any illusion that she will be potty trained anytime soon, but at least she is showing interest!
-She loves being outside, no matter the weather.  As soon as she comes downstairs in the morning, she goes right over to the sliding glass door and says "outside" over and over again.
- Speaking of outside, her very favorite thing to do at the moment is go to the playground (she calls them "slides" ;-)) and she literally points out every.single.playground we pass - whether it be a play set in someone's backyard or a daycare play yard or whatever else - and she just doesn't get why we can't just stop the car and get out and play.
- Her love affair with dogs continues.  She just can't get enough of them - yet another thing she points out every.single.time we pass one.
- She has so many words now that I can't list them anymore.  She is also starting to say a few two word combos.  I love that she calls horses "neighs" and trains "choo choos".  I know many kids do this, but neither of my boys ever identified anything by their sound, and I just think it is super cute.
- She loves to draw and play with stickers.
- She grows more independent with each passing day.
- Her sleeping has gone downhill - waking up between 3 and 6 times each night now looking for reassurance that we're still there (probably a product of her growing attachment to us).  It sucks, but we're dealing.

I'm sure there is a lot more, but I'm afraid if I continue to try to remember everything I will never publish this post!

Where did April go?

Seriously?!!  It's been a busy month....so much to catch up on and so little time.  Rather than bore you with the details, I thought I'd do a picture catch up post since our computer is back in business (well, truth be told, we had to get a new one - ugh).

This month we.....

practiced drawing.  Miss L is getting pretty good at drawing circles.  And I think she just might be the cutest little artist ever.

It was finally warm enough to play outside....

We had our school jogathon...

Went to the National Zoo...

traveled to Arizona for my cousin's wedding...
The boys were the ring bearers...
I love this shot of C and my cousin, J (brother of the groom)...
And then came Easter.  My in laws, sister-in-law and niece came out to visit.  The kids decorated eggs and cupcakes...

Cousins played together...
and there was an egg hunt...

And this one is getting so big; even the school bus driver commented on how grown up she is looking today (sniff sniff)...
That about sums up April.  Bring it on, May!

Flashback on Hold/21 Months (Almost!)

Well, I had the best intentions to do a series of flashback posts this week from our time in Korea last year, but our main computer (where we access all of our pictures) crashed.  Sigh.

In other news, L is 21 months old (well, almost)!  I realized I missed her 20 month post, so I figured I should write this one before time gets away from me again.  The biggest change over the past couple of months is definitely her exploding language.  Her language is finally really taking off and she is saying new words almost every day now.
- She is FINALLY saying "mama", though she doesn't use it very often to call to me....she mostly only says it when I point to myself and ask "who is this?"...but hey, at least she is saying it!  She calls dad "daddy".  She tries so hard to say her brothers' names, but they are too hard for her still (but she does get the correct number of syllables).
- Just in the past week, she has started saying her name and it is SO CUTE!
- Also new this week, she now comes up to me and points to her rear and says "poo poo", and sure enough, she needs a diaper change.
- She will say the names of things in books now, especially animals.
- She will name some body parts - eyes, nose and teeth - if she can't say a particular part, she will say "eye".
- She says "no" very well now ;-/
- She has said "shoes" for a long while now (one of her first words! ;-)), but for the longest time, she would only get out the "shhh" sound. She finally has the "oooo" part down now.
- A few new words of note:  jacket ("jackie"), Elmo ("momo"), fish.
- Speaking of fish, her brothers got fish last weekend and L is fascinated with them.  The first thing she asks for when she gets up in the morning or when we come upstairs any time during the day is "fish".
- Current favorite things:  shoes, books, puzzles, stuffed animals, doggies, and music/dancing.  Her first pair of pink Crocs arrived in the mail this week and ever since I tried them on her, she will wear no other shoes (and I must say that she looks adorable in them).  Problem is, it isn't exactly warm enough around here for Crocs yet...oh well.
- Her favorite book at the moment is "Bee-Bim Bop"
- She kisses EVERYTHING.  Seriously.not.kidding.  I think it is so sweet how she kisses all of her stuffed animals, dolls, etc., but she will kiss anything that happens to amuse her at the moment - pictures in books; rubber frogs, spiders, and snakes; etc..  I even caught her kissing a green block she was playing with the other day.  Really?!!
- She seems to grow more independent, strong willed, and "difficult" with each passing day. When she doesn't get her way, WATCH OUT.  She is a real drama queen.  We were at the mall play area the other day and when I told her it was time to go, she literally bolted away from me as fast as her feet could carry her!

Happy 21 months, L! I wish I could post some cute pictures to go with this post, but that will have to wait for another day.
